Finished 11 days ahead of schedule and just in time for our day long celebration on Saturday, June 6th.
The Hood Canal Bridge which links the Olympic Peninsula to the rest of the world has been closed for repairs for the past month and people have had to drive around the canal, or take multiple ferries, or be bused to walk on ferries and more buses.

I sure hope all the activity doesn't wear out the bridge on it's first day open!!!! kidding......And ahead of schedule, that's unheard of....
Have a wonderful week!
Kristin
Thanks Kristin, this is pretty exciting for us as our town has been suffering from loss of travelers to our area, and we are already feeling the recession in a big way.
Sandra - Whooo Hooooo, having lived in the area when the bridge has been shut down, I can attest that this is big cause for celebration! Great news for you!
Thanks Mike, did you ever wish you had not moved away?
Any bridge being out for any stretch of time is a problem and a great inconvenience. I had to go to your site to find out where it was, because I thought it might be interesting to see the rebuilt product, but you're on the wrong side for me.
Oh right, not close to you. The rebuilt bridge is said to be wider, and straight across (before there was a slight curve to it) and now there is a bicycle lane which we really needed. Most of all we just need to get all the travelers coming back over here to spend money. Thanks for reading....
Sandra, after a month of detours and inconveniences, I'm sure everyone is very happy about the rebuilt bridge. Enjoy the celebrations!
I've done the bridge and the driving around. In that area, one cannot go wrong regardless of the route one takes.
You are right, there is beauty in every corner of the Northwest. I am blown away by all the beautiful trees and on the peninsula there is water everywhere you look, and this week we have been having your kind of weather. Thanks for checking out my blog!
